Is lookupchina.com supported on Macintosh?

Although LUC is optimized for the PC systems as described above, the streaming video can work with most Mac systems. PowerPC powered Macs – we suggest using mozilla firefox and Windows Media Player 11.

Newer Intel powered Macs – you must run Safari in “Rosetta” mode, with Windows Media Player 11.

The video will not play and I do NOT see any error messages in the video window – just the “Loading” icon.

Some internet security programs on your computer may block the required scripts from running within the lookupchina.com Broadband Player. There are a few things to try to allow lookupchina.com to be allowed to run within your browser:

  1. In Internet Explorer and mozilla firefox , add lookupchina.com to your “Trusted Sites”. In the program, click Tools, Internet Options and select the Security Tab. Click on the green checkmark for Trusted Sites. Click Add Site. Add lookupchina.com to your trusted site list. Ensure the security level of the Trusted Site list is set to Low or Medium-Low.
  2. If you’re running any “Internet Security” programs, ensure that Javascript execution is enabled.
  3. Ensure all your computer hardware and software components meet the technical requirements above.

Q: My Presentation rebuffers a lot and when the video plays, it is choppy. What is the problem?
A: You may not have enough bandwidth to support the selected audio or video stream.

Q: The video won't play at all. What do I do?
A: You may be experiencing difficulties with video for the following reasons:

  • Unsupported media player or dated version of Windows Media Player: We suggest you test your system and download the latest version of Windows Media Player if required.
  • Internet connection interrupted: Ensure that your connection to the internet is active.
  • Accessing media file from behind a corporate firewall: Occasionally, corporate firewalls and/or proxy servers do not allow video to play through internal corporate networks. You will need to either connect to the broadcast site from outside of the firewall or ask your MIS department to open port 80 which supports audio & video streaming.
